American hard rock band Alcatrazz has featured legendary musicians such as singer Graham Bonnet, as well as guitarists Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai. Their current line-up (guitarist Joe Stump, keyboardist Jimmy Waldo, bassist Gary Shea, drummer Mark Benquechea, and new singer Giles Lavery) has re-recorded nine songs from the band's back catalog. Prior Convictions continues the Alcatrazz saga with a 21st-century twist on classic songs alongside new material. In addition to well-known tracks such as "Hiroshima Mon Amour," "Island in the Sun," and their biggest hit, "God Blessed Video," the album includes two brand-new songs, "Transylvanian Requiem" and "Stand and Wait Your Turn." Alcatrazz are carrying on their legacy while giving new fans the opportunity to rediscover a collection of bona fide hard rock classics from the 1980s. Longtime fans, on the other hand, will quickly realize that the new line-up is every bit as potent as past incarnations of the band. Originally issued exclusively on CD in 2025, the album is now also available on high-quality vinyl.
