It is with a first volume that SoOnd explores the pianistic territories without aesthetic dogma. From Brian Eno to Arvo Pärt, from Ryuichi Sakamoto to Bruno Letort, this recording opens like a window on a new sonic planisphere of today's repertoire for two pianos. Pianists François Mardirossian and Thibaut Crassin have always been in love with the music of their time, interpreting in duo or solo unbridled repertoires made of the compositional inventions of Luc Ferrari, Philip Glass, Moondog, Alan Hovhaness, Frederic Lagnau or Federico Mompou. For this first recording, the two musicians dexterously combine textures that surprise the listener from the first sounds, playing with the repertoire like a trompe-l'oeil. Minimalist? Conceptual? Tonal? Experimental? Modernist? François Mardirossian and Thibaut Crassin answer these questions by questioning the original construction of a new repertoire, in which the ear is carried away and lost in new planispheres.
